The Melaka branch Qram was officially launched jointly by the honorable Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Hj Mohd Ali bin Hj. Mohd Rustam and Dr. Cho Yong Ee, the President of World Toilet Association (WTA) on 2nd December 2010 in the latter’s office at around 2.00pm together with the Qram members.
The Qram members present at the occasion from HQ were the immediate past Chairman, Sr. John Loh Soong Chew, Secretary-General Jamiah bte Ja’afar, Branch Development Chairman Syed Mohd Jala, Public Affairs Chairman Eugene Wong Swee Seong and National Vice Chairman V, Johnson Tay Hong Eng, who is also the Chairman of the Melaka branch. The Melaka branch Qram was represented by its advisor, Datuk Dr. Nagaratnam, Vice-Chairman Ng Kim Kiat, Secretary AC Lim, committee members, Ong Chun Whey, Manimaran, Murugiah, Felicia Tan and Charles Teh.
The honorable Chief Minister welcomed the group with open arms and was very supportive of the Qram Melaka branch. He has even given his approval to be the Patron of Qram Melaka at the request of its members. Qram presented a copy of its constitution to the Chief Minister and held a short discussion together with the WTO president Dr. Cho and exco members on several topics including the possibility of hosting the next WTO assembly in the historical city of Melaka. On completion, a group photo was taken inside the Chief Minister’s office with the banner, to kick-off the soft launching of the Melaka Branch Qram in the presence of the press media and gift presentation to the Chief Minister and WTO President, by Qram, in appreciation for their support.
The honorable Chief Minister invited WTO President to sign in the visitor book before Dr. Cho departed from the Chief Minister’s office. Dr. Cho also gave a short interview to the press with the assistance of his personal secretary at the lobby with regards to the World Toilet Association activities. He was later driven back to KLIA, on completion of the interview with the press, by Qram members, where he had to catch the next flight back home.
